The Penthouse Lounge & Bar

San Francisco Decorator's Showcase, 2025

In 2025, I co-designed and executed this highly acclaimed, narrative-driven rooftop pool house and lounge for the San Francisco Decorators Showcase. Our four-person team at JKA transformed a unique rooftop footprint—adjacent to the property’s gardens and jacuzzi—into an analog sanctuary. The design seamlessly blends the rich, nostalgic narrative of 1970s southwest culture with ultra-luxurious, contemporary modernism. The result was a standout, high-concept space that was a crowd favorite.

Key Contributions & Execution

Design development and Specification:

Co-managed the integration of high-end, contrasting materials, including a bespoke bar crafted entirely of architectural glass bricks capped with a custom copper top, and a statement amorphous solid chrome coffee table.

Curation and Vibe:

Contributed to the layout and curation of the main lounge, anchored by a massive, custom-upholstered circular vintage sofa in vibrant blue alpaca and a dedicated audiophile listening station.

Powder Room:

Co-directed the design and implementation of the powder room, which featured hand-painted plaster walls, a tiled zellige sink, and playful fringed sconces.

Custom Furniture Development & Vintage Sourcing:

Collaborated on the detail development for several bespoke furniture pieces while strategically sourcing vintage elements to anchor the room’s 1970s aesthetic.
